Hi, my name is Mike. Let’s work together.
I credit Green Shoe Creative for inspiring me to pursue a future in a creative field. With their help, I got started with professional photography in 2013 and since then, I have focused and refocused my work. I discovered the thrill of making images from the photo pit, found catharsis in commercial photography, and eventually expanded into creative direction.
My experience with a variety of companies has impacted and helped develop my body of work. I have held communications and content creation positions with Green Shoe Creative, the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce, The Columbia Chronicle, and Sony Music Entertainment.
I concentrate on the craft in all of my work, striving to make images right in-camera and committing to only the most necessary digital manipulations. I draw inspiration from the incredible roster of educators I have had the pleasure of learning from, including Prexy Nesbitt, Shanita Akintonde, Diana Vallera, David Travis, Jordan Baumgarten, Joe Rapone, and Neil Kleinman. My photographic inspirations are drawn largely from the work of Marcus Haney, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Bryan Schutmaat, and Alec Soth. I believe that unkind humans make poor artists and that you must learn the rules before you can break them.
At this time, I am based in Chicago, Illinois and working to secure a future in creative direction or content creation.
