Refocusing for a new season
Fall is upon us!
Looking back on this summer, I’m thankful for a lot of new experiences and new work. The past few months have been busy between weddings and corporate work, hence the gap between this post and the last.
In early July, I filmed Chelsea and Bryndy Paprocki’s wedding at Marlene’s in Metamora. The wedding was a blast, and their film allowed me to include some new editing elements I’d been hoping to try out. Check it out below!
Still on the topic of weddings, I attended my very first bridal expo in August. The Elegant Bridal Expo was held at Paradice Hotel Casino in East Peoria, and it was great to see lots of central Illinois vendors in one place. The wedding calendar for 2023 is starting to fill up, and I’m very excited for those I’ve got on the schedule already.

Life outside of work has been equally busy and fun, from my brother getting married in Wisconsin, to booking a trip to Oregon for Ashlyn and I’s first anniversary. Plus, I marked 25 years on this floating blue marble, and celebrated with a few shows at Peoria Riverfront Museum’s Dome Planetarium.

Looking ahead, I’m hoping to bring some of my personal work more into focus and allow myself more time for my own artistic expression. I often start feeling some burnout when I’m isolated from my personal creative endeavors, so I think it’ll be refreshing to revisit some ideas I’ve been tossing around for a while. Late in college, I started exploring self portraiture—now, I’ve been thinking of ways to incorporate larger themes into the work and push it further.
Overall, it’s been a great season, and I’m looking forward to those fall colors and Halloween, of course. I’m going to try and hold myself to that monthly blog post quota I’ve mentioned in the past, so we’ll see how that goes. Thanks for reading!
